The idea behind this started with a thought: we’re not just entrepreneurs; we’re expats building something meaningful in a country that isn’t our own.

That difference matters. It shapes how we work, connect, and create. It means navigating new languages, systems, and expectations, while still transforming ideas into reality.

The word Expatpreneur was born from that meeting point: entrepreneurship colliding with expat life, the merger of two worlds.

In my own journey, I moved to Italy with my family in the hope of starting a new life in this relaxing country. Although like life anywhere, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way, moments that have tested my resilience and inspired change. Out of those experiences came the vision to create something that connects and uplifts others walking similar paths.

At first thought, I was thinking a simply directory idea the way to give visibility to the expat-run businesses I encountered in Florence and beyond: wedding vendors, translators, café owners, creatives. But it quickly became clearer: the stories behind those businesses mattered more.

 

The bold choices, cultural hurdles, and personal growth. The Expatpreneur Series is still a work in progress but is growing, slowly, but with purpose.

Each story and interview adds a new perspective to the journey of building across borders. It’s just me for now, managing the setup, outreach, and promotion, but every small step brings this idea closer to becoming a shared platform driven by volunteer effort, curiosity. All with the belief that these stories deserve a prominent platform.
