Exploring Wix Studio: A New Era for Designers

With over 20 years of experience in website design and development, I’ve primarily worked with WordPress, a platform known for its flexibility, scalability, and control. In the past, any interaction I had with Wix left me less than impressed. Reconstructing older Wix websites was challenging, largely due to limitations within the editor and the constant barrage of popups urging upgrades, which made my work feel more like a sales pitch than a design process. For me, Wix seemed overly focused on upselling rather than providing a true, user-centered experience that would support both clients who wanted a professional website and designers creating it.
However, the launch of Wix Studio in August 2023 has reshaped my perception. This new platform comes with a suite of improved features, and though some foundational elements, like pre-built sections for bookings, events, and products, retain the older editor’s style, I see promising signs of ongoing development. While Wix Studio currently lacks a direct integration path for sites built on the traditional Wix Editor, meaning sites need to be recreated to work in Studio, I believe it’s only a matter of time before Wix offers a smoother transition.
What truly stands out about Wix Studio is its fresh, user-focused approach and the expanded control it offers designers. The new responsive design capabilities, refined animation effects, and customizable elements bring a level of creativity and flexibility I didn’t expect from Wix. This shift shows a clear intention to meet the needs of both users and designers, making it possible to produce polished, high-quality, and truly professional websites. Wix Studio finally feels like a platform where designers’ feedback is valued and acted upon.
For the first time, I feel like Wix has become a serious player in professional website design tools, making it enjoyable and effective for seasoned designers. The balance between user-friendliness and customization that Wix Studio offers enhances my workflow and allows me to create impactful, user-friendly sites that align with clients’ brand visions.
As Wix Studio continues to evolve, I’m excited to see how it will help designers and business owners alike bring their ideas to life with new levels of creativity and control. And I’ll be right there alongside these developments, creating new sites and templates for those who want a professional, engaging online presence.
