Introducing Artsy Kicks – A Collaborative E-Commerce Template

I'm excited to finally share Artsy Kicks, a creative e-commerce template built in Wix Studio and designed with a bold, artistic sneaker theme in mind. This project started with my AI-generated sneaker concepts and grew into a full design experience that blends animation, original visuals, and teamwork.

About the Visuals: We used AI-generated imagery for much of the site’s aesthetic, including the sneakers and people visuals, to help give it a distinct, original feel. It’s a conscious choice that separates this design from sites relying heavily on widely used stock photography. Arpit Kumar also contributed AI-generated images featuring people used across the site. That said, I created the videos and logo, and Arpit animated the main header, which was built using Wix Studio’s Parallax and Marquee features. The sneaker-in-name animation was a clever idea developed by Arpit, and it really adds personality to the layout.

Responsive Design: Due to the many intrinsic design elements and custom animations, I had to redesign several page layouts entirely for tablet and mobile versions. It was a complex but rewarding challenge to ensure the site remained responsive and user-friendly across all devices.

Timeline & Process: This project was developed over the course of about two months. It wasn’t a full-time endeavor, more of a passion-based side project where each team member contributed when they could. That said, there was still a lot of time and thought involved. For instance, manually entering products into the catalog and organizing the collections took considerable effort. This experience reinforced how important it is to have a web professional when building an e-commerce site, not only for the technical execution, but also to ensure legal and usability requirements are in place, such as privacy policies, terms and conditions, and overall site compliance. These details are often overlooked, but are essential for running a proper online store.

Name Usage Note: When we began the project, the name "Artsy Kicks" was not being used anywhere online. However, since completing the project and sharing it publicly, we’ve noticed the name appearing on various unrelated platforms, including marketplaces, social pages, and questionable or spammy directory-style sites. While we can’t confirm how or where that inspiration came from, it highlights the importance of protecting creative work early. Regardless, this template and concept remain an original creation, developed collaboratively by our team.

Collaboration Reflection: One of the most valuable aspects of this project was the collaboration itself. With contributors from different backgrounds and creative perspectives, we had to balance a variety of ideas, especially when it came to choosing fonts, colors, and layout structure. It took communication, flexibility, and give-and-take to align on a unified vision. I'm truly grateful for how we came together as a team to bring Artsy Kicks to life. Collaboration was key to the success of this template, and it's something I'm very proud of.

Note: Some functional elements on the site, such as product checkout and chatbot interaction, are inactive. These features require a paid Wix plan to enable. For instance, although Arpit Kumar has experience building chatbots (particularly for WordPress), the Wix platform restricted us from implementing one for FAQs or live queries due to plan limitations.

We’re proud of what we created, and I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially around using AI imagery in web design, animation layering in Wix, and responsive design solutions. Ask away!
